Blackie Birth date unknown, possibly 1950 On liberty since 1953, Formosa Blackie enlisted directly aboard Mispillion, and was sworn in at Kaohsiung, Formosa, in April, 1952. As Pooch-First Class he was second to none. His uniform was chosen to contrast with the tropical whites of those around him, and he proudly wore his dog-tags as his only known medal while standing 3 watches per day on morale duty. Also known to keep a sharp dogwatch on Capt. Munson. Spoke 3 languages – Mandarin, English and Canine. He was first editor of the 52-53 Cruise Book, completed by Skoshe and Jody-san.
